Reduction Mammaplasty Perth, Western Australia
Large and/or pendulous breasts can cause neck and shoulder pain, skin irritation in the breast folds, breast asymmetry and make a woman feel extremely self-conscious. A breast reduction or Reduction Mammaplasty aims to reduce the size of the breasts and improve their shape appropriate to your height, weight and build. It also helps to improve posture and bring significant relief to your back, neck and shoulders that are bearing the weight of heavy breasts.
During breast reduction surgery, fatty tissue in the breast along with glandular tissue and excess skin are removed. By removing these elements, the breast can be pulled tighter making them lighter, smaller, and firmer and higher.

Your Breast Reduction Consultation
Dr Briggs will explain that it may be normal for breasts to be asymmetric and that while he will strive to make your breasts as symmetric as possible, they will never be truly identical.
He will discuss the fact that scars may be visible, but will eventually pale.
Breast Reduction Perth: The Procedure
Breast reduction surgery is carried out under general anaesthesia and requires an overnight stay in hospital. The procedure takes approximately three hours.
The standard scar technique involves making incisions around the areola, vertically from areola to breast crease and horizontally along the natural curve of this crease. The nipple and areola are moved in to a higher position after the breast tissue is removed and the incision sites are closed with sutures. You may also be suitable for a short scar technique, which is similar to the standard scar technique, expect there is no incision horizontally along the breast crease.
After Your Breast Reduction Surgery
Immediately after surgery your new breast size will be apparent, but you should understand that the final shape of your breasts will take around six months to emerge. You should not do any heavy lifting or place any strain on the breasts for about three to four weeks post surgery.
