Eyelid Surgery Perth, Western Australia

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery as it is also known, is a plastic surgery procedure aimed to correct both visual and cosmetic problems by eliminating excess fat and skin from above and below the eyelid. Unfortunately, as we age, the skin around our eyes creases, muscles weaken, and folds and bags develop. By removing this unwanted skin and fat, you can create a younger looking appearance.

The surgery can not remove all creases around the eyelids. Click here to find out more about Dr Briggs, expert in Blepharoplasty in Perth.

Your Blepharoplasty Consultation: Learning More.

Dr Briggs will bring to your attention the differences in facial symmetry that are normal, but may have never been noticed by you. He will also describe the results that are possible and discuss the positioning of the scars in the natural folds that make them less visible. It is important at this time that you are realistic about your expectations.

Blepharoplasty Perth: What To Expect.

Eyelid surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and it may be advisable to stay overnight in hospital. Depending on whether you wish to have surgery on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both, the procedure will take between 1.5 and 3 hours to complete.
  • External incisions are made along the natural skin lines of the eyelids, such as the creases of the upper lids and below the lashes of the lower lids.
  • Fatty tissue and excess skin are removed from the upper eyelids.
  • In the lower eyelids, it is mostly excess fat that is removed.
  • The incisions in the lower and upper eyelids are closed with sutures.

After Your Eyelid Surgery

You may resume normal activities after a few weeks. Healing is generally completed after a few months. It is also important not to partake in any vigorous activity for a few weeks after surgery, as an increase in blood pressure could cause bleeding.
  • To clean your eyes lubricating drops should be used, do not rub!
  • Make-up should not be applied for a week.
  • Contact lenses should not be worn for at least two weeks.
